Yesterday, I travelled to London with a friend to see the Futurism Exhibition at the Tate Modern. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. After looking on the internet at some images, I was doubtful as to whether I'd like the artwork I paid £10.20 to see.
So upon entering the exhibition, I was pleasantly suprised. It was a lot better than I expected, and some of the liturature was just phenomenal. Some of the artists had the most incredible ways of writing down what they wanted, fought against, and believed in. I think one of the best things I read; printed on a large canvas board, was this quote:
''We fight against the English notion that art is a useless past time, only fit for women and school girls, that artists are poor deluded fools to be pitied and protected, and art a ridiculous complaint, a mere topic for table talk'' - F.T Marinetti, C.R.W Nevinson
It really hit home, as, for example in schools today, art is still disregarded and not thought of as a proper subject.
Anyway, enough from me (: Basically, if you haven't been to the exhibition, I strongly advise that you do so.
It's £10 well spent.
